Dr. Callery ROCKS!
Oh, you don't even wanna get me started on Dr. Callery!! He is the BEST! If he was a car, he'd be a Mercedes. If he was a diamond, he'd be flawless. If he was a house, he'd be Hearst Castle! (That's all I can think of right now)
He saved my life and thousands of other lives. He truly is blessed by God and has been given a great gift. I love him and will always be thankful to him for my new life, one that I've always dreamed of!

Thanks everyone,
Dr. Babor, in Argentina is sending me his stats and answering my questions this week (hopefully). I will post them when as soon as I get them.

Based on that discussion, and some research papers I read, I'm probably going to go with open RNY. I'm not thrilled about the incision, but I want him to have complete access and view, lol! Probably kind of stupid. But from what he told me, the incision shouldn't be as long as I originally thought....
Make sure you have a surgeon that you feel you can talk to though! You may hit it off better with some than others!
Good luck!

I too have chosen open and feel comfortable with my choices. Its not stupid..its really a personal choice. My surgeon is in training for LAP and has done thousands of open procedures, thus the one of the reasons I am going open. I really want the doc to see whats going on in there!

Not to scare you, and maybe I have a skewed experience......but everyone I know who went open had an incision from under their boobs to about an inch above the belly button. I heard talk of a "new" method leaving only a 4 inch scar, but have yet to hear from anyone that owns one! Anyone here have a smaller incision?
