Hi all. I have been lurking here since last night and I have decided to finally post. I am just starting my actual physical journey toward a lap RY. I say that I am beginning my physical journey because I went through about a year of research and mental travel to come to the decision that I actually want to do this. I have my initial consult with my chosen surgeon in 2 weeks as well as the insurance required (Anthem blue cross) psych eval and dietary consult scheduled in the next month. I am so giddy about it. Now that I am sure I want to do this, I don't want to wait, and though I know that I am lucky and so far everything has fallen perfectly into place, I am still anxious that I will get denied...
By the way, I am 30 years old, married and the mother to 4 kids. I am an RN and used to work on the general surgery floor where my surgeon, Dr. Oakley, admits his RY patients. So that is how I chose my Dr, from observing his work. I am 5'6 ( used to be 5'7

) and 247lbs. I have no comorbidities, just the BMI over 40. Fortunately my new insurance has fairly lenient requirements for RY. Just that you meet the weight requirements (BMI of 40 or 35 w/ comorbids) and that you have the two consults in my sig line as well as a Dr supervised diet and exercise program... All of which I have done or am doing...
Anyway, I could go on forever about the details of what I am doing to pull this together but I somehow think that you probably wouldn't want to read that. LOL! Anyway, that is me in a nutshell. I look forward to shareing this journey to a healthier, longer life with you all.
