Sore Throat....5 days before Surgery!HELP - Page 2 - ThinnerTimes

I was told today by the hospital that if I developed a sore throat I had to call and let them know. I think it is all up to the anesthesiologist. My sister just had a spleenectomy and she was sick with a bronchitis type thing and they still performed surgery.

I hope all is ok by Monday. I am trying to keep away from all of the sickies, too because I have another surgery on Monday, too...

I will keep my fingers crossed for you...let me know if you find anything that works good or anyone recommends something good.

ZINC ZINC ZINC

I always take 50mg of zinc 3x a day at onset of cold - when I do this, I never end up getting sick.

I take the capsules, you can ge at any drugstore. Make sure you eat when you take them or it will make you nautious, but it reallly works!

Havent been sick in 5 years!

My most recent sore throat lasted 5 days. Just as suddenly it appeared, it was gone. I tried all the above remedies. I don't know if it shortened things. But did help to bear with the pain.

I find getting lots of bed rest when a cold bug starts coming on to help greatly. Stress just aggravates it...so take a little time for yourself.

Ok guys, I am trying all the remedies and I know I can't expect miracles here but I am in a severe panick. I woke up last night with my throat worse then it started and congested. YIKES

I am taking the Vitamin C tablets, a vitamin doing the salt water...

Do you all think it would be worth going to the doctor? I am not sure if they would even give me anything because isn't a cold viral or something like that. I feel really stupid but I am so panicked about being sick days before my surgery.

I was cancelled for surgery last week because I had recently been sick. You can lots of respitory complications from being put to sleep with the tube in your throat. Be honest with your dr. and let him know that you have or have been feeling ill or have a cough. I was upset about being sent home, but after research am glad that I am waiting another month to feel optimal.
