I know it hurts, sweetie, but try to be really selfish now and focus on what the surgery is going to mean for your life. You are the most important person in your life now. You are facing a total life change and part of that change will be new opportunities for relationships and, yes, love if you want it. If possible, associate him with your old life -- and look forward to your new, brighter, healthier, and yes, happier, life.

Take care and keep the faith.

Ang,
Sounds to me like you're better off without the jerk. That said, I'm really sorry for your loss. Can I find him and bitch slap him one for you??

Sweetheart, let me tell you one thing - most men are PIGS!! Not only is wls a change of life for you, it's also a test of those who love you, or you think they love you. He didn't want to deal with your surgery so he went out and found someone else. Just as well, you don't need that extra baggage hanging around!

I'm curious, is he obese as well? If so, he's probably in denial himself, and can't deal with the additional "stress" of having a girlfriend who is doing something for herself. Whatever the case, your much better off now. It's definately NOT 5+ years "down the drain", it was an investment that ultimately paid off - just not the way you expected. What if, you two married had a couple kids then he decided to skip?

Now, as far as this being the happiest moment of your life - IT IS! Don't let anyone take your joy and happiness away. This is for you, and look at the beautiful, prosperous future you have! No one can take that away from you, unless you let them!

Be happy and celebrate your new life!
