Unhappy Take away approval????

I've heard a lot of people talking about it - I just thought I'd check and see if it was true.

If I were to get approved in November or December, and my surgery date be set for January, would I have to go through all of this again? Will they take my approval away, or not cover my surgery? if their policies change??

When I got my approval it had a must use by date, I believe I was approved in August and it had to be used by November. So you do have sometime to use it by. If for some reason you were going to be unable to have surgery by the time your approval expired I would contact insurance ahead of time and ask for extension. Good luck.

It will depend on how long your approval is good for. I got approved earlier this month. I set the date for early January. When I got the official approval letter it said it was good through the end of December. When the doctors nurse called she was told that my companies benefits change in January so I would have to go through the process again and there would be a chance it may not be approved again. So I chaged the date to Dec. 27th instead.

Yeah, my letter had an "expiration" date -- but hold on to whatever paperwork you get re: your approval!

I think you shouldn't worry about them "taking" it away from you, though.

Well mine had an experation on it as well and all the doc did when the date got close was to send another letter to the insurance asking for reapproval I thought it was going to mess me all up but they just extended the experation date like 60 more days you should be fine dont worry.

You have a deadline you must meet after your surgery is approved; I asked and got mine extended.

I only had a month between when i got approved and when i had the surgery done. My doctor called it in 2 weeks before surgery so that there would be no chance of it expiring. It was a little nerve racking onloy finding out i got approved 1 week before surgery. They are all different, i would call to just make sure though.

Racheal this is a horrible thing to have to thing about but when they give you an approval their should be a number or something that comes along with it as well as an expiration date. Be sure to call your insurance carrier and ask those questions. I hope everything works out in your favor.
