Question Sleep Study

My paperwork was just sent off to insurance on Friday, so I still have several days of waiting...and I was wondering...would having a sleep study done to determine if I have sleep apnea (like I think I do) help to get me approved for the surgery, (by adding it to the list of co-morbidities)?
I don't know if I have time to schedule a sleep study with my PCP, but if it might help, I'm all for it. What do you think?

Sleep Apnea is most definately a good idea! It's listed as one of the reasons for approving surgery. It's usually a pretty simple tests too. It certainly won't hurt!

I think it was the big push with my approval. I had it really reallly bad according to the doc. I never knew but now I sleep so much better than i did before. I just hated the actual study part but it's not that bad really. I just hate being poked and prodded and messed wit hin my sleep.

How is the sleep study done? Do they hook you up to a lot of machines overnight?

It's like your hooked up to EKG but on your head torso and legs.A little weird but if you truely have sleep apnea your not resting anyway. Good luck to ya!

I had mine in the hospital. I didn't have any trouble with it. Though some people have trouble falling asleep knowing someone is watching your every move. But, some here were able to do theirs at home.

Thanks, I think I'll call my doctor tomorrow and discuss it with him. Maybe I'll be able to get the test done before hearing from insurance, just to give them another little boost towards my approval!
