Default Fun w/ My Liver

After my pre-op visit, I had to have some blood work done. Turns out my liver enzymes are still elevated (41/106 - whatever that means) and I've got to go for an ultrasound in the morning. Doc says he may take a biopsy of the liver during surgery (hepatitis, cirhossis, etc) and may take my gall bladder out during surgery.

What fun...

Anyone else dealt with this?

Obesity puts a lot of stress on the liver, therefore can cause damage.

Thanks, Beth...I'll update after I get back tomorrow -- though I doubt I'll know anything about it until I get home from surgery.

Hi Mike,
I had elevate liver panels going into surgery, due to the diagnosis of "fatty liver". This, they think, pushed me over the edge into diabetes. I had a liver biopsy during surgery (open) because the earlier labs read Hep C. I do not have Hep C, I DO have stage two scaring on my liver. I'm 6 mos out and my liver panels have improved tremendously, my cholosterol is 98, and my Hbac1 is now to 6.2%.
I know I will have to continue to work on these numbers to keep them within established guidelines. But now I have a head start!
Mike, once you get the results back, learn from it, follow the pouch rules and you should reach good health, an admirable goal.

I'm praying for you,

Charlotte
