Just a note~FMLA only works for you if you have been there longer than a year...and it's unpaid.I used it for my husbands accident ....

Thats Florida anyway...FMLA is federal should all be the same

I would love to take two weeks, but 6 is really out of the question unless it's medically necessary -- which it hopefully won't be. While my job is physically untaxing, it's is pretty imparative that I'm there -- since I keep the computers running.

Either way, I have very little control over that all and therefore, I'm not going to worry about how much time I need until I get to that point.

Mike,
Just tell them you could be gone as much as 6 weeks. That way they will be prepared and then if you want to and feel good enough to go back early, you can. Personally, my first 2 weeks were great. But the 3 and 4th weeks I was tired as heck and had no energy.

Well, we'll see -- I just hope I don't have to. They're a great group of people, so I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible -- I'd just be more stressed by not being there, knowing what was piling up while I was gone and the pay I wouldn't be getting.

Of course, it's not like I've got to buy food for 3 people -- just 2!
