Did anyone else loose weight before surgery? I am scared that if I loose weight they will say "see you don't need surgery" you can do it on your own. Or that my bmi maybe too low. I am 240 and 5'1. So do they go off your initial weight or your pre op weight?

Hi Christina,
Most Doctors will require you to lose weight for your surgery and it's not as proof of a lifestyle change.
MO patients have an enlarged liver so you will need to lose weight to shrink your liver for the upcoming proceedure.
I was also concerned that they would cancel my surgery if I lost weight but my doctor explained not to worry because it is your potential weight (top weight/consultation weight) that qualified you for the surgery.
Weight-loss after consultation is nothing more then preparation just like all the tests you'll be taking. So ask how much weight he wants you to lose.
Good luck.

Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life, and when it comes, hold your head high. Look it squarely in the eye, and say, "I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me."
