Default Ready for surgery on 10/18/05

well I got a call today and am scheduled for surgery on 10/18/05 in Burlingame, CA - its about 2 hours from home but worth it!! I cant wait to start my new life...and be healthier!

My pre-op is Sept 21st then the Dr goes to France for 2 weeks & hopefully he will be well rested by the time i have surgery

I moved through the process REALLY quick!!!

I was scheduled for 10/6/05 but that is the same weekend of my sons first homecoming football game on Friday and the dance is Saturday I didnt want to miss either...since he is getting older everything is changing so much right now...i am glad he is wanting me at the games many boys dont want their parents there.... and he has a good chance at making homecoming king which we will know at the game...if i had surgery on the 6th i ould not be there on the 7th for that and i do not want to miss it,,,because my priority is to my kids after all WLS being pushed out a few weeks would not really make a difference.... missing his first big night would matter to me forever!! I am a very envolved mom very into scrapbooking and keep saking the memories for them to cherish later...my mom did it and i cherish it SO much!! So far they really cherish it too....so I just could NOT miss it....the date only moved out 12 days....not to bad....considering it took her 3 days to call me back with a new date.

You are a great Mom! your son is a lucky kid.
You made a great decision. The world needs more self-less moms like you!

thank you so much i have been told i need to cut the strings a little but i am so happy when i am with my kids watching them playing with them and their friends - i am their "prude" friend...because of course i would never ok them to drink or smoke...but i love to go minature golfing late at night with him & a group of friends - & most parents love that their kids are out with me & my husband...

I agree, I get no greater joy than seeing my kids doing great things... or small things.
And when kids know they are your world, they have a great sense of security and self esteem, they know they're lovable. Family Rocks!

when i finally called to get a meeting with the surgeon they told me all the things I would need - (which after being on this for awhile I see its the standard for everyone) you need the Psych Eval, the Nutricianist eval and the Recommendation of you PCP with co-morbids - so kinda knowing this i had the sleep study done (that took almost 2 months to get everything done) then i set the initial appt. which was set for almost 2 months out so while i waited i did the Pysh and Nutric evals and I also knew they like you to lose some weight before surgery it shrinks you liver and make it easier on them...so i began to diet again so when i saw him for the first time i could say i was trying again...and he saw from the Dr visits i lost almost 5 lbs...As he was asking me questions I kept telling him i had giving this consideration for almost 2 years had done a LOT of research and been on the formu that gave a LOT of info, and I was able to answer questions about the procedure when he asked me if i understood what would be done...but still he wanted to see me in a month just one more time and asked me to lose 5 more lbs before he would give me a date....i did tell his i was worried about no longer being eligible if i lost to much weight before because i am just on the edge of the 40bmi....but he assured me it would be fine, OH also because of cancer I do not work...so I have Medicare and the girls in the front office said if Medicare approve me for the initial consultation they approve surgery so I did not have to wait for that after i met with him the first time...then the 4 weeks later i met him again lost 4.5 lbs but got a date...originally is was set for oct 6 becasue they make you wait 2 weeks until you have the all day pre-op classes and then give you 2 weeks to dwell on all that information they give you before they do surgery but I ended up having to push it out another 12 days to the 18th because it is my sons homecoming dance that weekend - (his first formal) and I did not want to miss the game on Friday or the dance prep. on Sat...

well thats what I did it and you know I want to tell you I would not recommend rushing it I really thought this over for a LONG time I mean I considered it off and on for over 5 years...but my cancer was not steady it was still growing in my lymph system - and now its still there but has not grown in about 2 years...I did a lot of research and thought about alternative stuff too...like Zetacap but just realized I wanted a LIFE changing tool...good luck
