Talking I got a date ~ should I change it???

well I got a surgery date of Oct 6th but found out that my sons homecoming dance is the 8th of oct. (hes a freshman) now i have not talked to him because i think he would say no i should keep this date... so I am bringing it to my new WLS friends - but what do you think???

I already called and left a message asking if I could move it to Oct the 13th but if that is not open should i still just take the next date or keep the 6th???

Oh one more thing i have to have the surgery in Burlingame, which is about 2 hours from home...I would hope to be home sat afternoon & could see him if he does go but who knows if I would make it home before the dance....

Thank you for your input!

Why are you exactly worried? Your husband (I am assuming you are married, forgive me if you are a single mom) should be able to handle it right? They can take a video of everything and bring it to you at the hospital OR he could come by the hospital before the dance so you can check him out? Is that maybe a possibility? There are going to be lots of dances for him that you are going to be there for. If I were you (and I am over here doing the hurry up and wait game) I would stick with my date. Good luck!!

Hi I'm new here. My 1st visit with Dr. C was 8/26 . After the consult he referred me to the seminar which is somewhat backwards from all of you.
Meeting with Kelly is 9/27..He didn't mark any other consult's just test I need to complete before scheduling my surgery date.
Any way getting back to the point here... I agree with Lisa Q...please keep your date.
Take pictures of your son's magic moments...however please remember this is your magic moment also.
Pictures catches the special times and memories please don't rob youself.

"I want to have a huge BBQ swimming party next summer with my husbands co-workers and their families! Because at this weight I am ashamed to meet his new co-workers...but someday that will all change and we are having a PARTY!"

You should never be ashamed of yourself. What counts the most is what is inside. I DO understand however because I weigh about the same as you, but I've learned that hating myself doesn't help and only hurts me more. Good luck in your surgery and with your son.

My opinion is keep your date! Have lots of pics taken of your boy so you can see how great he looked. Next year, you'll be a new healthier you and you can see him off for homecoming. I know it is tough to miss out on stuff with your kids but there will be more homecomings, proms, and one day, a beautiful wedding that you will be there for because you'll be a smaller, healthier person. You are having wls for yourself and so your family will have you around a long time, right?

thank you for the kind words!!! you know i try to tell my self that and when it comes to having everyone over i freak - sometimes even walking up to my kids friends i begin to freak & begin wondering what they must say behind my back - only to later realize these friends of theirs have known me since I was a normal size and they along with their parents have watched and been ther for me as I went through cancer and removing my thyroid and parathyroid and spots on my liver and the weight gain... so WHAT IS MY PROBLEM, WHY AM I FREAKING OUT???

after all its my own health issues and the need to feel healthier which is why i want this WLS so i will not over eat and continue to gain weight because without a thyroid or parathyroid i have NO metabolism left... what i eat must be worked off, plain and simple and for the exercise i do in the limited amount of time i feel i have to do exercise - i over eat.... again thank you for the kind words I appreciate them!

well i am a little sad to say i dont think i will be keeping my date... it is just not right for me...

I do not want to miss the big game - because it is his first big game (& he doesn't like sports to much we had to force him to pick a sport to try freshman year, he said he likes it but he said he may not do it again next year...) He has said no big deal if i wasn't home I think he will like the first big freedom that he will have and of course my husband and parents would take pictures and video the game but its not the same seeing my son get all dressed up for the first time to go in the limo with his group to dinner and homecoming.... its so hard to explain but we have a GREAT group of friends the parents are all friends and there are 3 girls and my son that have been best friends since 1st grade now they are in 9th we have been through a LOT together as a group! (this last may 2005, one lost her husband (they have 3 kids so they lost their dad) in the war, another had major health issues and had WLS May 2005 & is DOING GREAT lost 115 lbs already, i have had cancer and been in surgery many times when the group of kids were in 1st grade was the first time and again when they were in 6th grade, I missed being the chaperone on the 6th grade trip with my best girl friends!) so we all had talked about it over the summer and decided when the kids left for the BIG dance we'd wait for the limo to drop them off then it will come get us & well go out for a drink and talk... so my friends were sad too about the date, but said not to change it because its been a little over a year that i talked about it ~~~~~

but you know i moved through very fast when i finally decided it was time and i was ready so really a day a week a month will not make the insurance change their minds and say i am denied now...so i decided to move the date to what ever they can give me next...i am awaiting a phone call or email or anything to give me the next date....

i will let you all know when i get the new date I hope its soon!!!
