Hope things go well for you! Let us know how it went. I'm glad I didn't have to take a written exam!

It sounds to me like the long time is a good thing. I think yours plans to talk to you, give you the test, then talk again about anything that stands out on the test. That is a good thing for 2 reasons. The first being that you do not have to sit around wondering when she'll score it and get to your results. The second is that anything that comes up on your test you will have a chance to explain. For example, if you say yes to a lot of physical questions they will suspect severe depression..........and possibly you have some medical disorder which explains the answers (maybe even the symptoms from the obesity). It will go fine. Be yourself.

I had no idea this was such a time intensive thing. I have plans to meet my new shrink Thursday and I guess I better call and make sure he'll be able to assess my depression.

It's hard to know what to do, lol--I'm depressed because I'm fat, and wouldn't be so depressed if I weighed less and could do stuff, so do I let him know I'm depressed, or do I reassure him that I would be just peachy if I can get 100 lbs off me? Just show me the hoop, and I will jump through it and back it that's what I have to do!

I think you can be honest. I think they are looking for severe clinical depression. This surgery can cause depression. They need to know how to help you through it. The Psych I went to said most people coming for bypass approval do have depression. She was surprised mine showed none. Just be yourself.
