Default I see the light

The journey is coming to an end! While it may not have been as long as some of you out there, it feels like forever to me. I had my gall bladder ultrasound today. It was the last major appt I needed before my pre-op. All that's left to go is to order and have the blood tests tomorrow, then the pre-op on Sept 7th. I'm hoping to be under and out before the end of September.

On a side note, the doctor that reviewed my ultrasound said I'm accumulating some fatty tissue in my liver and that with the rich foods that most American's eat, this is somewhat normal. He said that in about 12% of people that have the fatty tissue, they can develop something (can't remember what he said), and then 10% of THOSE can go on to develop cirrosis of the liver. He said I shouldn't really be worries since I've already taken the biggest step towards a healthy life, but he had to tell me anyways since it was going in his report.

I tried to ask the ultrasound tech (not the doctor) if it was a boy or a girl, but either it was too early in the morning for her, or she didn't appreciate my humor.

Most MO folks have fatty liver. I did too. I've heard that this surgery stops it from progressing, but does it cure it? I don't know. Has anyone had it checked after a year out?

Just curious.

Yes, it's reversable. It takes time and a healthy diet to correct for a fatty liver.

Whose your Dr. Alleusion? How did you schedule a pre-op before your tests are complete? Are you self pay? Just curious. Am I missing something!

LOL no worries! I'm going through the navy. My surgery is being done at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, near Balboa Park. They recommend that you make the pre-op in advance, so you know when you schedule your other appointments. Someone told me I had to call to schedule my surgery date, so when I did they said no, the doctor does that at the pre-op. So I scheduled the pre-op instead. I told her my gall bladder ultrasound was the 23rd, so she put me in for the 7th. There's only one other thing on my list and that's the weight management consult, but even the receptionist didn't know who did that appt and told me to ask at my pre-op.

*sings*
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it......

I just got off the phone with the Bariatrics nurse. She's got all my labs ordered, I can go in and get them done tomorrow. After that all that's left is the pre-op and the surgery itself. I feel like dancing!

*edit* and this makes 100 posts!! wewt!
