Just an update... she had her surgery, she made it through, but shes really naseous (or however you spell that) and so she cant have liquids except ice chips. They checked her to see if she had a leakage or anything and she doesnt. So hopefully the nausea is just from anesthesia. thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers! I really appreciate it! Ill keep ya posted on how shes doing. Thanks yall!

If she keeps having the nausea they do have some suppositories(?) that stop the nausea. I used to have to use them after surgery (6 knee surgeries) cause I just couldn't shake the nausea. Now I tell them about it before hand and they give me anti-nausea medicine with my anestesia(still cna't spell it).
Just ask the doc if she can have that.
Glad she made it through OK.

Ask if they can give her something. It might also be from the pain meds. They usually make me feel a little sick to my stomach. Keep us updated on her progress.

Ok so Im taking care of mom at home and all, she has had a fever of 99.7 for about 2 days now with the chills and stuff. The doc had made her stay an extra day in the hospital because she had a fever of 99 something. I gave her tylenol, I think that reduces fever, does anyone else have any suggestions?

I'm surprised they let her go home with a fever! Keep a close eye that the fever doesn't go up. If it does call the doc right away. The fever is a sign the body is fighting something. You don't want to take any chances.

At the time when she went home she did not have a fever. For some reason, the doc wasnt too nice to her when she was in the hospital even tho we've paid his ass like $44,000 in the last 3 months! He never came to check on her until the afternoon of the 2nd day... and at that point she had been so nauseated and sick she had been completely miserable for both days. He even yelled at her when he came to check on her!! He was like "youve been nothing but a pain for all the nurses, youre driving them crazy!" and just went at her for no aparent reason. She was crying so bad that she started snubbing which made her pain worse. He never even looked at her incisions the entire time... Im not sure what his problem is but he better be glad I wasnt there when he yelled at her! I mean hes like one of the best docs for this surgery, but he sure is an ass hole! She yelled back at him the day he made her cry, so I think when he let her go home he just was wanting to not deal with her. She wasnt like a pain or anything, so I dont know what his problem was but we're all pretty pissed at him and how he acted. Oh well... some docs have no bedside manner! But her fever is better today, me and her actually went to the movies tonight, I think shes feeling much better.

Holly, I'm glad your mom made it through alright. That really sucks about how the doctor is acting Hopefully everything gets better for her in time. I'm sure the nausea will go down also. I remember being super queezy when I was all doped up on the morphine
Wow, it seems like only yesterday when I went to the hospital to stay with my mom during her surgery over 8 months ago. She's lost 95 pounds so far and then was there for me when I had my surgery. Like mother, like daughter. Hehe.

Thanks so much chick! Isnt it great that we can go through this with our mothers?! I mean it sucks that we had to do this in the first place, but its nice to have someone in the family who's had it too! My dad is next!
