I too have Tri-care and they do not help to cover over the counter vits. Please be careful because the only vit I can get with the help of Tricare in the NE is the D and one that is perscribed is NOT absorbed properly. I am currently taking the Celebrate multi and calium plus, D-3 from vita lady, and get the B-12 and B-complex at the commissary. All totaled I spent $100.00 and have a 3 month supply from Celebrate. My vit D will last ages, and the B's get figured into my grocery bill.

.
For everything I take, Calcium, Multivitamin, Biotin, Iron and now the B12 patches, I spend about $45 a month including shipping costs. Our grocery bill has gone down around $75 a month, so I still figure I am ahead of the game. Cut your budget anywhere else you can, but I urge you to never ever skimp on your supplements. They are WAY too important.

I spend a small fortune on vitamins. But you probably don't have to. But here's the thing. I use ENS from Celebrate because I have having trouble getting the chewables down. They were making me nauseous. The ENS contains a multivitamin plus 1000 mg calcium per day. And it's $49 for a 30 day supply. But I need another 500 mg calcium, so I use Upcal D. Which is very cheap. I think I paid $12 for 120 servings, and I only use one serving a day, so it will last me forever. I also use the B12 patch. I pay about $25 for eight patches (which lasts eight weeks). Then I take 50,000 IU vitamin D3 per week. I forget what I paid for that. But it was a bottle of 100 capsules, I'm pretty sure, so it will last me two years! My big expenses are the ENS and the B12 patch, but particularly the ENS.

I don't know why they would be calcium carbonate in a bariatric vitamin, but apparently they do for some reason.

My dietitian had passed that info on to us, but I guess there is so much info that was thrown at me that I didn't hear that part. I thought that she said the OS had 1000 mg of Calcium citrate. So,I thought that is why I had to take the Calcium Citrate just to get the right amount. She just told me to up my dose. I am taking 4 of the Optisource daily, and now the right amount of calcium. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.or I would have never thought anything about it until my labs came back.
I love reading your posts...I learn so much from them
Thanks Again.

Where do you get the B12 patches? I bought the sublingual to start taking before surgery but they give me a sore under my tongue!
