Default Consultation w/Dr. Potts on Aug.9th!

Well, I'm set for a consultation with Dr. Potts on Tuesday!
I wouldn't be able to see Dr. Callery untill Sept. and I also have already attended Dr. Pott's lecture. So now I'd like some input as to my decision to go with Potts vs Callery. Pott's patients, what do you think?

Dr Potts did my surgery and I think he's absolutely wonderful. I had an open because my gall bladder had to be removed and the stitching was done so well that I have a very good chance that the scarring will be unoticible in a year.

Thanks for the feedback Terry, that is encouraging. Not that I am doubting his skills, just trying to do my homework.
Also, what exactly happens at a consultation? Is this a clothes on or clothes off type of appointment?

Jen,

I don't remember if it was clothes on or not but he will review with you all the testing that might still be needed. He will explain the procedure and answer any questions you might have. He will have them take your temp, blood pressure and weight. Bring your partner with you (the person who will be your primary care after surgery) in case they have any questions or doubts.

Jen,
It was so nice meeting you tuesday night. Thanks for comming over and introducing yourself.
Dr Potts is Great and believe me, he pays attention to every detail.
You should have no worries about picking him(I did the very same thing as you did, picked Dr Potts cause it was quicker, then wondered if it was the right thing) Let me tell you He is the best.
Are you going to the meeting tonight? If so I might see you there.
M

Clothes on. They weigh you and ask questions. You review some of what's in the blue binder. You talk about insurance stuff and what tests you'll need. He'll give you a prescription sheet that you need to take to your PCP to order the tests. And off you go. Dr. Potts is great. I've had no problems with him.

Thumbs up Great choice

Hi I also had my open procedure done by Dr. Potts also because of the shorter wait time to have it done and he is truly great, he is totally caring and he did pay attention to everything I did not have one problem at all everything went perfect and he was so excited for me when he came to check on me in the Hospital. I didnt have to have a drain tube so that was good I just had the teeny tiny anthesia things in my belly but those were hair thin and he came in to take them out I didnt use the morphine but once cause I didnt like the way it made me feel, but I didnt really need it. You made a great choice in my opinion. I also cant remember if it was clothes were on or off I just remember all the what to expects and the check lists and answering of questions......yes also bring your buddy with you to your appointment. Dont worry you are in great great hands with Dr. Potts. You will not regret your decision. I had my gallbladder taken out a year before because of problems I was having so that was not even an issue for me. You will be fine. Keep us posted on how everything goes. Take care.

Default Dr. Potts

Ok, I was Dr. Potts actual first Lap procedure. He had worked with the tools and assisted, but I was his actual FIRST. He is wonderful. Very caring and completly skilled. I am doing great and can't say enough about him. You can e-mail me privately if you want any more info.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am feeling good about my decision. Went to the pre-op support group tonight and heard some more encouraging stories. Of course I also saw someone from my Church, so much for my gall bladder alibi. lol
Actually he was there with his wife and he was very nice and supportive, he said yeah, his wife is having her gall bladder removed too. lol!
Marcia, you being there at only 3 weeks out is pretty cool. You seem to be doing so well, it's very encouraging.

Is Dr. Potts ok with your new goal of 115? Dr. Callery wants me to gain 17 pounds to be 130???? I don't feel comfortable at 130 because I am soooo short. I was just curious if Dr. P said anything about being too skinny to you. I know I was warned to gain weight.
