I had a lot of gas pain until about day 5 so I was not sleeping well and up walking and sipping in the middle of the night. Otherwise I was ok. I walked 3 times a day for 15-20 minutes and didn't feel exhausted much. I got a bit weak later but just for a couple days and then I was ok again. I was on clear liquids for a week, so I'm not sure how I survived those days! I decided I must have been running on adrenaline for a while!!

That's what I'm thinking. The soreness I have isnt anything unbearable, and what I would expect when having surgery. This morning I felt pretty good when I woke up and went to take a shower and while I was in the shower the room started spinning and I had to get out immediately. I went and laid down for a few hrs and then was able to get up and get dressed. My chest burns a little, but I started getting gas today, and I'm thinking it's just the gas trying to escape. I think I'll get up and walk for a few....

Clear liquids are horrible!!! LOL. I've actually been on them for 6 days now, but only 2 since surgery. The day after surgery I couldnt have anything at all. My diet instructions they sent me home with say I can start on "full liquids" after 2 days, so I think I might try some pudding tomorrow.

Go for it!! I was never happier to have a little pudding and it went down fine. Hopefully you will find the same!! I also had some cream soup that day I had pudding and also no problems. Good luck!!

I was having a couple of dizzy spells when I first stood up but I think that was from not getting enough fluids in which a friend told me her husband experienced so once I could get more in I have been fine ever since.

I personally thought I was going to be into puddings but really, nothing sweet sounds good at all. I have been pretty much living on cream soups (broccoli, clam chowder, potato leek, and split pea) for about a week now and I just run it through the blender if there are any chunks. Mmmm....I need to go to the store and see if they have anything new, luckily I live near a high end place that makes there own so no canned stuff

mmm, potato soup sounds sooooo good. Something I've been asing: If sugar can cause dumping, and potatoes turn to sugar, why do they want us to eat them this early? lol

I think you are right about the liquids. I've up'd them today and feel alot better already. I am hurting a little tonight, but I'm trying not to take pain meds. I took some this morning when I had the spell in the shower, and I think I'll take some when I get ready to go to bed.

How many days out did everyone start driving?

I think dumping is caused by different things for different people, but it seemed like it was the simple sugars that did more damage. Complex carbs to a lesser degree. I personally have had up to 17 carbs at one time and did fine - the complex carb kind that is. I usually keep them to around 10 though, to be sure.

Driving I did after about one week. I think that was what was recommended, but I would try not to drive if you could to avoid the sudden movement that could hurt your innards....

My doctor said I could drive as soon as I was off the Vicodin but I didn't really take but one or two 1/3 doses the first day so I think I went out and ran an errand the 2nd or 3rd day home?

Default Hi there

My surgery was on the 2nd. So I am 4 weeks out. I take my vitamins, the protein gives me mild dumping, I can't eat chk without pain. I do frequently push things too. I try to get a good chunk of the water in before I eat so often it's not til noon that I eat anything. Then I eat to quick, throw up a little, have a sip or 2 of water and swear of food forever. Of course I can never stay away. Sometimes I get the munchies which for me means carbs. They sit better too. I'm doing everthing not quite right. But close. I'm learning about my new pouch and what it likes and doesn't. Lots of trial and error. I lost 24 lbs my first month. I had a huge drop of 7 lbs one day like 2 days or so after I got home then nothing for a week. What the heck? Right? It does move. I was hoping to be in onederland by now but I'm not where I was either. I tend to sit at one weight for 3-4 days and then it drops a couple of lbs. I keep thinking it is going to go up, but once it leaves a number it never returns. Thank God! I go to the YMCA 2-4 days per week now to make sure I strength train and row or walk or both. I hope it helps. Today I'm stuck at 202 but I did all the right stuff so I better see 199 tomorrow. Or 201, 200, 150 what ever. I'll keep you posted. I added this not to the other list and just wanted to put it here too. I know it doesn't quite fit the current conversation but it's almost 1am and I don't care.
