I told my boss when I requested the time off and asked him not to tell anyone except HR if they needed to know... to anyone else at work who asked where I was, I just said I had some vacation time to use up.

couldn't really *not* tell my friends, though. they'd notice right away the first time we went out and I was eating significantly different unless I just avoided them for 4 months. lol.

In Cali you don't have to tell why you are going out. All you need is a not from the doc saying that you are under their care and you will be out for a certain amount of time. We can't ask someone why its against the HIPPA rules. You should check and see if it's the same in your area. You can look on line. You can always just say you have having stomach problems, and they are not 100% sure whats wrong.

People are nosy, but you do not have to tell them anything. If someone asks why you were out, just say it's personal and leave it at that.

They're probably going to figure it out eventually, but it's really none of their business.

You're going to lose it a lot faster than you ever did before. It took me a whole year to lose 45 pounds on Weight Watchers in 2004. I've already lost 53, 47 since 11/4. That's significant. It's going to raise a few questions and it's going to be hard for you to get around them.

I'm the type to tell the world. I've seen a few people raise their eyebrows and tell me I'm crazy, etc., but I don't care what they think or say. But that's just me.

Default just an idea...

You could say you are having a hernia repaired.
