Pre-Op diet very hard to follow!
Hello everyone! Well I am on my fourth day of not eating solid foods, I am having a hard time. I feel so weak. I have been drinking protein drinks 2-3 times/day, but with only being able to eat sf jello and pudding, along with drink water/tea/propel/crystal light I am so hungry all the time! I just want to eat a piece of steak or something! I had to go to an orientation for University of Arizona (I am starting there in the fall to finish my degree) and they did a huge presentation with tons of pics of all the restaurants and places to eat on the campus. I was so hungry! So far I haven't cheated. Has anyone else had the problem of feeling so weak and tired, along with a major headache (could be caffeine withdrawal) on their pre-op diet if they had to go on one?
Maybe I am not getting enough carbs or protein? I am taking in about 800 calories/day

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

Don't quit now !! The caffeine withdrawl is murder, but it is temporary. Stay focused on the svelt new body that will soon be yours! No steak in the world looks as good as fitting into a normal sized pair of jeans

Oh the ever dreaded caffeine withdrawal headache! I didn't do a pre op diet and drank my diet coke up until the night before my wls. The worst part of my surgery was the headache I had for 4 days from the caffeine. I was absolutely miserable! It's probably best just to tough it out but you might want to take a couple Excedrin. They are great for a headache and they contain caffeine. However, they are a no-no after surgery. Well, atleast my doc says so. Just remember this will all be over shortly and it will be so worth it!

I have a question why are you on a liquid diet? An 800 calorie diet OMG
I am so proud of you. keep up the good work. Donald is right when you put your normal size jeans on you will feel like you won a million dollars.
Your surgery is on June 21st just a few days. How long have you been on the 800 calorie diet? I will be praying for you and thinking of you in the days ahead. Take Care

Oh Thank you, Thank you soooo much you guys! Thank you for your words of encouragement and reminding me about those jeans! I can't wait, and I am still following the pre-op diet. I actually don't know why I have to do this, I was going to ask but didn't want to sound like I was whining.
Thank you everyone!! Whew- 2 more days!

You rock!!!! I literally laughed outloud when my doctor said some of her patients with Eatna Insurance were required to do an 800 calorie diet. I mean for goodness sake.... if we could DO an 800 calorie diet for any length of time... we wouldn't need Gastic Bypass... duh! Just a few more hours and you be there... it's the home stretch sugarpie.... don't slip now!!

Well it seems to be getting better. Funny thing is that my skin seems to be looking clearer and smoother on my face and I am starting to feel better too. The only protein shakes I like are Isopure, and I tried Strawberries n Cream and Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl. They are the best so far. I am leaving for Phoenix tommorow at noon for surgery since I have to do the bowel prep stuff (yay) starting at 2 pm. I want to be settled in the hotel before I start that! I have to be at the hospital at 5:30. I just cooked my husband, son, and Mom a steak dinner and I really want some right now but instead I decided to read messages on the forum. I accidentally (sort of) grabbed some potato chips yesterday. I chewed them and spit them out!
One good thing about this pre-op diet: I have lost 9 lbs already!
Thank you everyone for your support!

I have been told B-12 helps with symtoms of caffiene, and or sugar withdrawl. You may give it a try. You can get the kind you stick under your tounge. Hope it helps! Hang in there.
