Default Newbie Question

Hi All... I am brand new here... I have been lurking for a while on the board and have gotten a lot of great info, thanks so much! I have been contemplating the surgery for a while now and made my first step by going to the lecture from Dr Calery's office.

Silly question for you, I live in a town house with a flight of stairs. The problem, my TV, couch and Kitchen downstairs my bathroom and bedroom upstairs. So, the question, will stairs be a problem for me the first week or so after the surgery?

Thanks for indulging this silly newbie question... its been bugging me for about a week now.

I have stairs at home too. Just go slow and hold on to the rail. The first few trips make sure you aren't home alone. The pain meds can make you a little woozy that is the biggest problem. Good luck!

I have not yet had the surgery but after reading some of the other post it seems that for most people it has not been a problem. They just take them slow and they have been able to deal with them just fine. I'm sure you will get many responses from post-op, there is another thread that is under tips and trick that also talks about the stairs after surgery. You should check it out. Good luck on your journey.

Arrow Stairs

I have stairs also, and I didn't have any problems with them at all. I had to go up and down them when I went outside. Just make sure you hold onto the rail, because the pain meds can make you light headed.

I have stairs, my bedroom is upstairs, I slept in my bed the first night home from the hospital. I would recommend using the binder, especially when coming down the stairs.

Hi Newbie( I am new too...lol) CONGRADULATIONS on taking the first steps to regain your life back I just had surgery 8 weeks ago.... I had no problem walking up and down stairs. In fact they will make you conquer that task on day 2 at the hospital. By day 5 I was off all meds and feeling like a million dollars, no pain, no complications... Nothing! It was the BEST thing I ever did for myself. I am down 52lbs so far, and I haven't even started to work out yet. I can't imagine the results if I started to burn calories
