Smile Finally approved!!!! So happy!

Now I need to decide on a date and ease my fears of surgery.

Oh, how in the heck do I break it to my employer? I don't want to tell them about the surgery. A lady on my job had the surgery and told everybody, now everyone keeps wondering why is she not losing anymore weight, how can she eat candy and many more questions. I don't want to be next on the hit list if you know what I mean.

I did tell someone in another department that I was thinking about it. I hope she forgets that I told her. Anyway, that's probably the least of my worries.

Approved by Aetna after appeal.

happy dancinf all the way to the office.

You don't have to tell anyone. It's none of their business. You're just going to be out on medical leave.

But, it'll leak out eventually and people will notice that you're losing weight and will bug the dickens out of you. It's all part of the process of change. Unavoidable unless you live on an island all by yourself.

That's funny!

Well I'm real personable, so I probably will divulge the info soon enough. I guess there are so many people that don't understand the surgery. It's just hard to hear people down WLS patients. I guess I will speak up for us.

Yes!!! APPROVED!! So happy! :

Having the surgery myself helped paved the way for others at my company to go ahead with surgery themselves.

Kimmy, I was open at work about my WLS and if i had it to do over again I would have kept my trap shut. I got every ones uneducated opinion on the subject- some first hand and some second hand. I was so senitive right before the surgery- it would have been easier on me to deal with people two months later when I waltz in 35 lbs thinner. Im happy for you!

Delaney,

I'm going to take your advice. Mums the word. I'll tell them that I'm having abdominal surgery or female surgery and that should be all they need.

I'm excited and scared.

Kimmy,
Congratulations on your approval! The decision to "out" oneself is a very personal decision. I was very open about having my surgery. I have had nothing but incredible support here at my job. A lot of questions but never any negativity. I have educated those around me and am happy to answer their questions. Do what you are comfortable with. Best wishes and big hugs.

Congratulations! Everyone at work knows about my wls. I get a lot of negative comments, But I also get some positive ones. I get tons of questions about the proceedure and how it works etc. I didn't want anyone to know but they would have found out anyway. just remember if you tell one person (no matter how good a friend) everybody will know.
