Pre-op diets vary greatly...depending on the doctor, and depending on the patient.

Honestly, I think that if you're allowed food (meaning veggies, etc), you're very lucky indeed. This is what my surgeon allowed me: Gatorade, apple, grape, or cranberry juice (diluted 1/2 strength w/ water and limited to 3 cups a day); beef, chicken, or vegetable broth; SF decaff coffee or tea with no cream or cream substitute; SF jello; SF popsicles or SF frozen fruit bars; SF kool aid and Crystal Light; artificial sweeteners; and 3 SF protein drinks mixed with water only (no milk).

Mine was for 10 days. It would have normally been 14 days, but my pre-op surgery appointment was a bit late, so I got a bit of a break. I got very sick for the first 3 or 4 days, and had terrible migraines from the lack of food. I called my surgeon's office about it (hoping they'd allow me something else), but was basically told "tough luck"...but in nicer terms, lol. :rolleyes

Really, I does get easier after a few days. Hang in there.

Default Pre-op Diet

I am looking up info and planning to start my pre-op diet on 27th December... getting xmas day and boxing day out of the way first! my op isdue on 23rd January 2009 and I am so excited but very scared.
More worried that I will be sick all the time and Im frightened what I can actually eat...
My doc has said the pre-op diet consists of fruit, veg, egg whites etc, but have given me a list of a few things I can have. I just need to plan something with them now and try to be organised.
Been surfing non stop for information and found some useful stuff here and on youtube. Ive not told many people about the surgery yet, only my close family and friends.
Hopefully 2009 will be the beginning of the rest of my life. want to lose eight stone.
xx
