Default Water idea

OK, first off, I suck at drinking water. Actually, I've always had trouble drinking enough liquids, and I'm almost always on the edge of dehydration.

Realizing how important drinking water is (especially after the surgery), and also the small amounts at a time thing, I had a bizarre idea. I went to Walmart and bought a few cheap tourist shot glasses. I have one at work.

I fill it up (about 2/3 of the way), drink it down. Fill it up, drink it down. Every 15 minutes to half hour. It's actually working - I did it to learn portions, but I'm actually drinking more water this way. And there's honestly something very cathartic about drinking out of a shot glass at work.

Great idea! I brought extra of those little ounce cups home from the hospital and drank one every 15 minutes. Same idea.

Because I'm allergic to nutrasweet (aspartame), I haven't really gotten used to "sugar free" taste. I've gotten pretty used to sugar. I can use Splenda, but the aftertaste is pretty nasty in a lot of stuff (to me). So even though I don't LIKE water so much, it's easier for me to drink then SF stuff.

I guess as I'll get used to it as I drink my protein.

Here's something to remember ...

After your surgery, you won't be able to down a shot of anything. I'm 4 1/2 months out and still can't do it.
If you try this, you'll get a TRUE reality of what it will be like for you when you're post-op. Buy an insulated Playtex sippy cup. Take the lid off and remove the silicone 'no spill valve' from inside the lid. Now sip away!

The insulated ones are by far the best ... since it takes so damn long to drink anything, at least this way it stays colder for a little longer. Get the bigger size, it's 9 or 10 ounces ... 'cuz you'll be using it for quite a while. And by removing the valve under the lid, you won't be sucking air bubbles along with your drink.

Now, place this on your desk at work, take a baby sip and put the cup down. Wait two minutes, take another sip and put the cup down. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat!

I don't know, maybe I'm an oddball... but I have no problem downing an ounce of water in a 'shot'. I can easily drink 4 oz of a liquid in 15 minutes.

I guess I already knew I was weird. This is just one more confirmation LOL

Default Another idea

I used to go to the Outback with post-ops after our meetings with Dr Callery and I learned a trick from the post-opers that were far out. They order ice water and lemon....I use limes and then they add the lemons or limes to the water with Splenda or Sweet and Low. It makes a quick sugar free lemondade and it is free. Not so bad...and not too sweet like Crystal Light.
