Default Good news and bad news

Well i am out of dictaion and into the insurance approval stage. Yeah . But I lost my surgury buddy today. he was also the place I was going to stay for the firsat week after surgury. he and his wife work(he starts a new job monday) and i will be by myself for at least 8hrs aday. i was so comfortable everything was falling into place and was getting calmed and excited, now i cant think of nothing else but what am i going to do. i was told the insurance would pay for a weeks stay at the local nursing home, but i really didnt want to do that. i am scared to death i am going to be by my self through this whole thing. i was relying on my best friend to be there. I cant tell him i am disappointed as he had to get a job but I dont know where to turn. I wish all of you were closer so i could talk personal with a few of you. Anyone have any suggestions? i am open. maybe an answer out there I cant think of right now. Sitting at work with nothing to do, and all i cant think of is myself. it a pity party. But it is real and i will go through this even if i am by my self. Prayers a being said and i know it will work out. I just dont see how at the moment.
Closer but scareder. cj

CJ~

Sorry to hear this. I am srue that your buddy is happy for his new job, though. I needed help after my surgery getting up and stuff. Maybe the after surgery care at the nursing home will be able to help you. I know it won't be as good as staying at home with a buddy. I hope it all works out for you.

CJ, Here's an option. How about having a home health care nurse or nurse's aide come in & help you? That was an option on my intake form when I applied to my program. Wish you were closer, I'd help you out. Pam

Maybe you can find a few friends that can come over thorughout the day to help you out. They can stay for a little while get you up make you walk give you water etc, and then you can be by yourself for a few hours, and then the next person comes in. If that's not an option then see if your insurance will cover a home care provider to come in for a few hours a day. Don't let this little hurdle stop you. I know that something good will happen, and all will be well.

CJ, my surgery buddy is the best person in the world, a real sweetheart. But when I had my surgery he was starting his own business. So, I was by myself A LOT. I did fine. I am single, my son is in the army, so I am used to being by myself. Just me and the cats. I made my own broth, got my jello and water out of the fridge by myself (hey, no one ever said we had a problem opening a fridge....unless it was opening it too much), went walking.....I was fine. I doubt you would even need an aide nurse really. Just my input.

Dang! Just when everything was moving along so nicely. I've got good vibes and prayers comin' your way CJ that you find someone to help you out. You do need help during the first few days at home. God Bless!
