Default Hello All from PA!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Coleen and I have started the journey for WLS. I am so excited and can not wait! I have already had a consult with the surgeon. My next steps involve getting all my testing done. I have Psych appt. July 24th and a few other appts for random things in July...Its going to be a busy month, but I know it soooo going to be worth it. The surgeon said hopefully in October providing I get all the testing done before the end of September and then he can submit it to Insurance. Please pray that this goes fast!!!!

Oh and can someone tell me what happens at the Psych appt.?

I have read so much on this board and really enjoyed reading everyones stories.

And I don't know how to edit my profile to add tickers and other things? Can someone help?

welcome aboard.

My psych was basic: did I understand this was to be a life change? Could I name the president, and the one before and the one before that?

Could I recite the months of the year backwards? Could I deduct 7 from 100 and 6 from 93?

Basically is your head screwed on, because this is not the "easy way out"...

My Psych WANTED me to "pass" her testing. I.e. not hard at all.

good luck and welcome...

The Psyc test for me was 600 true/false questions that had nothing to do with with Weight Loss Surgary WLS. But testing for addictive personality triats and other things like. Please don't rush your Pre-Op time!! It really DOES take a while to get used to all the changes. You have to change your whole life even before you have the surgary. You home and family have go to through changes too. Take advantage of the time. You need it. It will all be happening before you know it! And it will be awesome! I'm just over in Lancaster Pa about an hour away! Shopping at King of Prussia anyone!!!?? Welcome aboard the while and crazy adventure of.. The rest of your life!

My psych appointment lasted roughly 20 - 30 minutes. He asked my family history and my medical history. He asked me if I knew the complications, if I understood the procedure etc. He wanted to know what I did for a living. When I told him I was an inpatient medical records coder, he wanted to know with all my knowlegde of surgery complications etc if this was the best choice for me. I've read the train wrecks and yes, I'm ready to get this done. Sometimes it seems like it will be forever but I'm nearly 5 months into my documentation.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hey there, I'm pretty new here too. I'm scheduled for surgery in York PA on the 24th! I have no idea how to do the tickers or anything so if you figure that out LOL My psch eval was nerve wrecking! I have been in therapy for many years for depression and what not and my psch eval was with the same group just with a pschiatrist instead of a therapist. I felt like I was at a disadvantage because they had a four year record on my crazyiness LOL It all worked out fine. I just told her that I realized that this wasn't going to make me completely happy but that this is a tool to help me be healthier and hopefully also a tool to at least feeling better about myself but that the rest is up to me. A tool is only as good as the worker using it and this will be work...My friends who had GB had trivial questions like one of the other posters so just be prepared for any or all. Good luck to you and I will pray for you!

Here is a link with good instructions on how to create / update your ticker.

Good Luck.
