Pre-op liquid diet, PLUS! Bowel cleaner?!
Has anybody had to do a liquid only diet for a week, and then had to do the Citrate of Magnesium TOO?! I thought it would be one or the other. Will I even have anything left to clean out after all liquids for a week?

Hi Laura,
I am having to do 2 weeks of liquid diet and then I have to take milk of magnesia at noon the day before! I was told to stay close to a bathroom!

I only had to do a liquid diet for a day, and I had to take the Fleet Phospha soda. Let me give you a word of advice. Do NOT mix in too much water like I did! I wound up with a huge glass that I couldn't drink. I say just hold your nose and down it. It will be so much easier b/c that stuff tastes NASTY!

you know what, by the end of the process, you wont have anything left to come out that will offend anyone else LOL
By day 3 of my diet, my trips to the bathroom, while frequent, were uneventful in the unpleasant department

I have certainly noticed how the "pre-op procedures" vary from doctor to doctor. My doc only had me on a liquid diet the day before and nothing else to do...no nasty drinks or enemas or such.
It relieved a lot of the anxiety I was having over what I would have to go thru right before the surgery. But even if I had to go on a liquid diet days before or drink yukky concoctions I would have done it anyway (what choice would I have had)? It's all worth it in the end.

That citrate magnesium is good
Trust me, you'll be glad you got all cleaned out from the "go lightly" as they call it. The BEST situation is to be clear liquids and all cleaned out. Your doctor sounds like a very good bariaric surgeon, and what he's doing will help you a lot in the long run, and the short run during your hell week and hospital stay
Yeah it sucks, but it is worth it. You'll see
