Hi Everyone,
I have been looking into a Gastric Bypass since I was about 16 (I'm 23 now) and I have been looking for help ever since. I FINALLY got an appt. at the Weight Management Clinic at the Civic Hospital (here in Ottawa, ON, Canada) and I waited 4 months for HUMILIATION.

It was the worst experience. The doctors there can get you a referral for OHIP approval. \The doctor I saw was horrible and told me that I needed to try their $5 grand liquid diet, then see their nutritionist (at $150/HR) and then see her again in 5 YEARS. She was like " I have had people do the diet 3-4 times over and always get results" yet I'm wondering... yeah.. like I have $30 000 to waste on liquids. I needed something permanent, not so I can almost die every few years.
So- I have an appt with my family doctor next week to try to get her to fill out the physician's section of the OHIP out-of-country pre-approval form, and I hope she will do it... she's very pro-not eating (yet she is about 110lbs, so of course she is).
If anyone has filled out the OHIP forms, can you help me out? I know my BMI isn't exceedingly high, but I have plenty of other health issues that come thanks to being overweight. I'm just afraid that the decision council won't see that part.
Does anyone know what to say to catch their attention?
If anyone can help me, I'd REALLY appreciate it!
-Emily
