Question Biotin

Ok everyone I've got a quick question. My stepmom is in the process of having this surgery to. I went to a support group of her's in Riverside yesterday. I woman who was 2 and a half years out said to use Biotin and you shouldn't lose your hair. Has anyone else been told this? Does anyone know anything about Biotin? I'm going to go look into getting some today. If anyone could help me with this I would be very thankful.

Thanks for all the support guys.
XOXO

Default Just say no Biotin

Tonya if you are going to lose hair you will do it regardless if you take Biotin or any other medication. You will either lose hair or not, there's nothing that can be done about it. I know thats not what you want to hear. Not every single person loses hair. That lady may have been one of the lucky ones and Biotin had nothing to do with it. I am losing hair girlfriend... it's not that big of a deal. Ya cant even tell unless you are me or that mean girl I work with..
You will be okay girlfriend......

Hey Bridget, I think the mean girl you work with needs to get a life and leave you alone! You look great and have beautiful hair, she is just jealous. Keep it up and kick her butt if she dosen't back off, or better yet call me and I'll kick her butt for you!! Pam

Red face The rumor is...

NourisHair from GNC is what works. (At least that's what was posted several times on the old message board.) I really don't know - I'm only 2 months post-op and the real shedding is supposed to start at 3 months. I lost about 25% of my hair last year from stress (thank goodness that's over with), so I'm nervous about losing more. I started taking the NourisHair as soon as I could start taking regular vitamins. Unfortunately, the NourisHair pill is enormous, and you're supposed to take it twice a day. It's about $10 for a month's supply, which is what I'm willing to spend to see if it works. Unfortunately, I always forget to take the second pill later in the day, but I figure that a little extra biotin is probably better than none at all.

It may be throwing money away, but I'm going to keep taking it until three months rolls around and see what happens then. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks guys

Barbara
I think I'm going to try that to. I mean heck $10 a month is not much to waste to try not to lose my hair. My hair is the only thing that I've been able to control while I'm fat so I would hate to lose it after all of this but if I do then its all worth it. No big deal either way.

Have either one of you gone through any major depression since the surgery. That girl yesterday said she had major depression for almost a year and that made me a little nervous. I had depression as a teen. I mean ups and downs are one thing but she was talking about it lasted her almost a year. Is that true??

Tonya,

Prior to surgery Biotin was one of my regular vitamins. It's great for hair and for nails, but it takes about 4 months for any visable changes. I am only 5 1/2 weeks post op and I hope to start taking it again.

Good Luck!

I have a history of major depression too. To head it off, I've been seeing my shrink twice a month before and after surgery. So far, no depression popping up. Also, having orgasms helps keep depression at bay, so I'm praticing that too
