Too litttle too late??
Well i opened my mail yesterday. I got approved for surgery but........ I dont know how many of you know what was going on with me but to make a long story short.
I was trying to get approved for surgery. In the last 3 years because of accidents, and trying to figure out what i was going to do about the surgery (trying to make up my mind if i wanted to or not) i have not had a vacation from work, so when i heard i would most likely NOT get approved for it, i took my long needed vacation. So know i called Susie, a couple of weeks ago and told her that i just took my vac, and when she was doing my approval paperwork to call them and check to see how long the approval would be good for. Well SHE DIDNT. So in yesterdays mail, i got my approval letter, but it is only good for 90 days. What happens now? I cannot take off more work for at least 5 or 6 months. Will i be able to get approved again in 5 or 6 months, or did i just blow my chance? What do you think will happen now? Plus i started the MRC program, and i have lost just over 10lbs in about 20 days. SO i have committed to that too, because i did not think i was going to get approved for surgery. Of course i would much rather lose the weight without surgery, but......i am not sure it will work. I have really been sticking to program, last week i did not lose but 1.8 lbs, so i was very discouraged this weekend and made a few mistakes, so i am sure i have either put back on some, or at least did not lose.
I am just so mad at her for not asking them first how long the approval would be good for. At least if we knew, then we could have waited till a month or so before i could take another vacation.
I guess this was not such a short story, sorry. I really could use some advice.

Danette~
Maybe you can tell your work you have to have surgery for a gall bladder removal or something (make an excuse that is a medical necessity) and go on disability. It is not their business to know "what kind" of surgery you are having. Also, maybe you can cancel your MRC program with a letter from your pcp. I don't know....just throwing out suggestions. The surgery was so worth it to me. Congrats on getting approved. I hope you are able to have the wls if that is what you want. Take care and let us know what you decide.

Maybe you can call your insurance company and ask them to put your surgery on hold for 6 months. Explain you work situation. They might say OK, but you never know until you try. Goog luck!

There is a federal law called the Family Medical Leave Act. You can take off plenty enough time to have your surgery and your employer has to allow it. It is good for you, your kids, spouse, or a parent. They cannot get around this at all. That is the only way you can take off enough time where I work. people take them all the time. Even for stress. Check it out!

Extension?
Danette:
From my experience, it is usually possible to get an extension on a medical referral. It might also be possible with a medical approval. If you really want to give the MRC program a fighting chance, then try to get an extension of 90 days on your approval.
I have to agree with you--if you can lose the weight and keep it off any other way, I would go for it. I wish I could have lost the weight and maintained another way. However, I couldn't and my surgery was a God-send. Only you can decide what is best for you. Good luck with your journey, whatever way it is.

I am 1 of only 11 people at this company. So it's not that my boss would not let me take it, it's more my sense of ethics. I would feel totally guilty. For one my assistant only works part time, and she it to take a vacation soon. Plus my boss and wife are in the process of moving to a different house, so they are stressed out. I just dont want to add to it. I am the office manager here and they pretty much rely on me. I know that they would understand, however i just cant do it to them right now. I would feel too guilty. Plus, like i said i already committed to the MRC, I paid too much money to just quit. I really want to give them a chance. I signed a contract with them, so i know i could not "get out of it"
I just am so mad at her for not doing her job correctly. I dont know what i will do if all this causes me to lose my chance at surgery later on if needed. I think i will call the insurance company myself like suggested and see what i can find out. I wanted to see if they would re-imburse me for any of the MRC stuff anyway.
Thanks for your advise.

feel a little better
I just talked to Susie, She said she sees no problem with me getting approved again in 5 or 6 months, as long as the requirement dont change (again).
Do you think i will have to take the nutrition class again, or should it still be good?
