Your employer has to let you off for the surgery. You can take leave under the FMLA for up to 12 weeks and your employer cannot fire you. You have rights!!!!! State Disability is suppose to pay you some of your lost wages while you are out.\
Good Luck!!!

If you work at a smaller company, FMLA may not apply.

Check out this link:

http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/complian...pdf/fmlaen.pdf

At the top, it says something about the company employing at least 50 people, so this may not apply to most small businesses.

Thanks everyone! I will for sure check out that site. I do work for a small company. I am 1 of 11 employees.
I called my insurance company yesterday, they said my approval had been voided, something about not having a date. DUH how can you have a date before you have an approval. But she said she was checking and that the approval should still be good for the 90 days, from the letter date. So i have until July. So i put it on my calander to call her before the 90 days expired to get an extension. She said with out a set date they cant give extensions becuz the requirements change so often for this surgery, so anyway that's what my case manager told me to do. So I think all will be good.
Like i said i know my boss will give me the time off, he is really a great boss, and they are really good to me. Its more of my sense of ethics.
I will keep you posted.
