First Day on Upcoming Hell Weeks...
Today was my first day of this High Protein/Low Calorie diet. I am allowed three shakes, 1 protein bar and one pouch of soup a day. I have to go all the way till the 26th like this. That is 2 and a half weeks. How do people get through it??? I really feel hungry. Especially because I have five kids that I have to make dinner for. My husband is no help either. I mean, he has to eat too. It didn't help that he woke up today asking, "You wanna go out for breakfast?" I mean, he knew that I was starting this thing today!!! How not funny!!! Any advise on what I can do to get my mind off of dinner when everyone else is eating? I guess writing in helping right now.
I am desperate for some advise on how to get through this...

I haven't had my hell week yet but a friend of mine did last month. She said she would seclude herself away from her family during meal time. Thats what I am planning on doing, so thats of course my advise to you, lol. If that don't work as well as it sounds like it should, maybe take a walk just around the yard or up and down your block. I wish you the best of luck, oh and I hear it gets easier after the first few days. Keep your head up, it'll be over before you know it!

The best advice to give you is that if you don't do this right, you risk screwing everything up. You gotta do this to get the fat off your liver, so do it right! If you don't, they could cancel your surgery. I think this also proves to you and your docs that you are tough enough to handle all the shit that comes after surgery! You can do it. It's only 16 days of your life... and what a fabulous life you have ahead of you! Thin and glowing is what you'll be

I am confused, my surgery date is 6/23 and I have no eating restrictions until day before, clear liquids and nothing after midnight? Why the restriction?

hey there my one suggestion that helped me a lot through the pre-op diet is to drink a lot of hot liquids. sounds like you don't have "free" drinks (ie: broth, sf popsicles, etc) so maybe hot herbal tea? hot liquids helped me with the hunger. chewing sf gum also helps with the desire to chew chew chew
keep posting and paying attention to what's going on inside - that helps.

One day at a time, and with lots of naps!!!!! Keep your eye on the goal, focusing on your wants, needs and dreams. Like many have said, nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Try and remember that to help you through this difficult time.
Good luck sugar pea!

Hell Week
My surgeon didn't require the protein shake diet and I only have to do full liquids for 48 hours before surgery, BUT, I have chosen to do it for the 10 days before surgery to make sure that my liver is small. I drink 3 Unjury Shakes a day and then lots of water with Crystal Light. So far, I'm ok. I"m down to one cup of coffee a day. Luckily, I live alone so I don't have to cook for anyone else but myself. Last night I mixed the chocolate Unjury with non-fat, sugar free pudding. It was yummy and let me eat with a spoon. Today I'm going to have the vanilla shake/1 cup of non-fat milk/ frozen peaches as ice! Good Luck everyone!
