Need some encouragement/support I guess - ThinnerTimes

Ok so my surgery is tomorrow morning FIRST THING. My family is rather large and everyone is very close.
My family has been pretty darn supportive up until this evening. My mom can hardly speak she is so upset....she said before "if I were you Julia I would do the exact same thing" and today said "I don't agree with what you are doing but I support you and know why you are doing it"
She was crying today, my aunt cried, my dad is super concerned.... my mom says she doesnt want me to be any different than I am today (she is so concerned about long term complications no matter how much I reassure her)

anyway.. I'm sure this did'nt entirely make sense...it's just that my family is so close and I hate to feel like I am causing sadness or worry.....

My husband however is holding strong in his 100% support in my decision!

What do I do about my family??????

awww sweetie, all you can do is reassure them your doing the right thing. Family i think sometimes love us SO much they are scared when dealing with a major surgery i'm sorry hon, i'm super excited for you maybe just give them a little comforting (even though its YOU needed the comfort)

I so agree with you, Julia! You are doing this for you. If you don't love you who will? And if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything! This is your life and your taking charge! I'm proud of you! I'll be joining you on the loosers bench in 16 days!

You just have to understand that your mom's "baby" is going to have major surgery. No matter how old you are you will always be your mom's little girl. My babies are almost 16 and 19...

And you will definitely need to change the "I wanna please everyone" complex. I was exactly like that too!

We'll be thinking of you tomorrow! We'll see you soon on the losers bench.

99% sure that in a month or two they will all agree it was the best thing you could have done.

I've had several people (family and friends) come up to me after surgery and tell me they are so glad I had it because they were concerned about my weight before surgery but didn't feel like it was their place to say anything.
