I received my paper work explaining the process and everything. In there is a section explaining the type of surgery. It says:

The surgery for obesity performed at U.C. Davis ia a gastric stapling with roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy.

Is this the same as gastric bypass? Is anyone familiar with this procedure. Is anyone familiar with Dr. Mohamed Ali?

it also says laparoscopic is available to patiens whose body habitus permits. Is this what you guys are referring to when you say 'lap'?

It says i'll need documentation of failed prior medically supervised attemps. Do you know what qualifies?

I'm so excited. I'm concerned that my husband isn't as supportive as I thought. When I got the paperwork he focused only on the negative. Could be just in my head.

I think it is the same as GB. Lap is indeed the laproscopic. For me nutra system and weight watchers qualified because my doc was involved. Also, meredia (sp?) or any other diet pill you may have tried. I would try talking ot your hubby. See what his concerns are and how he feels about wls. If he has questions take him to the doc with you or have him join in the fun with us.
