Default Insurance wants me on a DIET!!!! Here's my rant...

I got a call from Lisa last Fri. She called me at work...I just about jumped out of my chair with excitement...only to tell me she needed more info. My PPO wants me to be on a 3 month medically supervised diet before they'll even submit my stuff for approval. Are they crazy? I've been dieting since I was 13...what's 3 months going to do but annoy the heck out of me? I understand they want to make sure I'm serious and dedicated...but cummon...that is just silly. So yeah...i'm totally bummed.

PPO is just one letter shy of POOP...poopy pants ppo's.

Ok...I feel better now!

Steph,

Hang in there, it's frustrating, but I suspect you'll find the time goes much faster than you expect. Good luck, and when you lose some weight, that's good too!

Talking Well

Do you have a 3 month medically supervise diet within the last 6 months? If so send her the documentation.... girlfriend be thankfukl for a bunch of stuff at this point...
A. Your insurance has written an exclusion for this procedure into your policy.
B. They didnt tell you 6 months
C. They didnt tell you NO WAY

See there are lots of things to be thankful for......

Default Diet

I had to do one for 6 months, and was still denied after that, so really I did one for about 10 months. 3 months is nothing! It will go quicker than you think.

Wink Thanks...

Thanks guys...sorry i sound like such a whiney baby! I am so anxious to start my new life...run around...chase my baby girl...all that good stuff. 3 months is not a long time, I know. I will do whatever it takes, whatever needs to be done so that I can move forward. I was on Optifast for quite a while...but I quit over 6 months ago because of the expense . Bummer I can't use that to meet the Ins. requirement.

I think i'm mostly annoyed that the lady at my insurance company asked me why i can't just lower my caloric intake instead of having this surgery. She suggested I eat fewer calories per day since that's what the diet does anyway. I feel like she was implying that this 3 month "required" diet may change my mind...like I will finally wake up and realize I can do it on my own.

I know she means well....but I have a pretty good feeling she's never been 330 lbs!

Default Oh man

Now that is just ignorance..... you kept your cool it sounds like, with the lady from insurance.... good lord. If it were really only that simple!

You dont sound like a whiny baby at all, we are here to help you get through it, and show you the bright side (if there is one). Some people on this board had to hire attorney's to get approved! It worked, but it took a long while!

You right 3 months isnt so bad, start cleaning out your closets. Really. You wish had..... get rid of all the stuff in your closets that dont work and you havent used in a year. Have a garage sale! 3 months will fly before you know it!

Well, Hell's Bells.
All you have to do is cut your caloric intake? *smacks forehead* it is so simple now. Oh, did you know that exercise helps too?

You did?

What is wrong with us fatties that can't lose weight then? Its SO easy!

Grrr. I've been in a bad mood for a couple days, but this makes me want to take some Children's Chewable Prozac.

Keep fighting!

Sounds to me like a rawhide bone would be more helpful to prevent teeth grinding and growling!

Keep a cool head and play the game. You WILL come out on top here. They are just trying their best to make you lose your cool and give up.

I had to do a 4 month diet even after supplying them with several years of medically supervised dieting.

Play the game and come here to vent your frustrations. We know how you feel......Been there........Done that!

Play the game and KEEP FIGHTING!
