Default Opti-Fast pre-op diet

I have been seeing alot of different threads about the pre-op diet. I am aware of the reason for the diet, but still cant get over the big differences between different versions.

In my case, I am about to start a 2 week pre-op diet where i have been told to consume 4 Opti-Fast pouches per day, and nothing else.

Is this a common diet pre RNY surgery, or does it sound extreme?

I think Opti-fast is pretty common. I actually did a modified version of optifast for four months pre-op. If you do the chicken soup flavor, it tastes better if you add lemon pepper or some garlic powder. =0)

I wish we were that lucky up here in Montreal. The maker of Opti-Fast only markets the Chocolate and Vanilla shakes in Quebec (no strawberry, no soups, no bars).

Both.

I was lucky that I could at least eat all the veggies/salad I wanted in addition to SF puddings, Jello and Popsicles.

Some people that have posted here didn't even have to do the 2 week pre diet at all.

Red face

I don't have to do the two week liquid diet before surgery. But I believe I will do about 3 days of it. Good luck on your surgery and hopefully I will be having mine in early summer also. Debs
