I can't remember for sure, but I think I have to do a 14 day liquid diet as well. I am supposed to drink protein shakes during that time though. I will find out for sure when I meet with my surgeon again, but I think I am going to be in the same boat as you guys! Hang in there! It will all be worth it in the end!

No, you'll be MUCH better off, since you can have the protein shakes.. that will help curb the hunger and make you feel much better than those that are not having any of protein at all....

good luck on your journey.

Thank you so much, Y'all have made me feel better....

At least someone else is going through this with me....we have the same surgeon, the same day.

I just cant imagine no calorie intake....I'm weak all the time and downright HUNGRY. I dont have any emotional eating desires or desire to binge for the heck of it, I can go without food..until I'm HUNGRY

Yesterday after church I got a side salad with lettuce, 2 pieces of tomato, actually it was more like a 1/4th of a quarter, if that makes sense.....2 small rounds of purple onion and fat free, sugar free Italian dressing. It only had 10 calories in it. Oh, and what bits of cheese I couldnt get picked out.

It was maybe 2 cups of food or so, nothing drastic. But I sure felt like crap for falling off the wagon. You know?

I decided the weekdays will be easier b/c I'm at work and folks are watching me....but the weekend is going to kill me...

thanks for the comments, I feel better about being so out of whack emotionally

I'd like to make a suggestion? maybe when you feel like falling off the plan you could do a protein shake rather than other types of food..?

Yes, good to hear you can have protein shakes. You'll b e sick of them, but they will really help with the hunger! If you haven't already, RUN to your local supplement store!

Good luck!

Ask the person at the supplement place, but the directions on the can/tub should tell you what to mix them with. Most can be mixed with water.

there are soy based, rice based and whey based protein shakes available.. I'd try one of those.. whey is *technically* a dairy product but I think mostly it's not considered dairy....? has no lactose (according to the lable) but soy or rice protein shakes would work too if you're worried...

my nurse told me that without enough protein your bod goes into starvation mode and you actually lose weight slower..

ok, so I have the pre op clear liquid diet in front of me from my surgeon..it says

"NO PROTEIN SUPPLEMENTS OR DAIRY PRODUCTS"

I can have:

Diet soda
broth, bouillon and bases (no vegetable or meat pieces)
sugar free jello
sugar free drinks
low cal sports drinks such as gatorate and powerated diluted 1/2 with water. no more than 3x's a day
sugar free fitness water
sugar free popsicles and icees
coffee, tea

WHERE IT THE "UMPH" IN THAT?? NO WONDER I'M DRAGGING. NO WONDER I'M AN EMOTIONAL MESS.....

And....

I find it's much easier since I'm back at work to stay on track. I have distractions, I dont concentrate on my deprivation.

I can sip a diet soda or coffee to offset the headache and eat a jello at lunch or sip on a soup broth.

Not so bad..I just have to figure out how to do this at home when I'm taking care of the family...

*sigh*

but my dh, bless his heart, he's been so careful. He takes the kids to eat or goes downstairs in the family room and they eat and clear out all signs they ate...

and they dont make any production about eating...so far he's been able to take care of them without me in the mix so we dont have to explain why I'm not eating...

God love him, I'm so lucky

But get this, he's all distraut that I'm going to lose weight and lose my butt....*L* I have one of those husbands that loves fat women He asked if I could keep my "shelf" (the fat area at the top of my butt)

he's so not right...seriously!
