Testing Positive
Ok, after getting my list of required documents and remaining test left to be performed from Kelly, I felt like a child who had just received a list of clues to a map of buried treasures. I couldn't wait to get started on checking the clues off the list as I performed each task, it was like doing my homework and time was my competition. As I planned the next 3-4 days out carefully on all the contacts and appointments I was going to make, my primary physician was the first stop on my list. His job was to perform my EKG, an update urinaylisis, an update HIV and the H-Pylori lab test. He printed out my EKG on the spot and took a sample of urine for the urinanalysis, both in which he handed my copies before I left his office. Before leaving, he drew blood for my HIV and H-Pylori and informed me to pick up the results in a couple of days. Approximately the same time the very next day, I get a message on my cell phone marked urgent. It was my primary physician's office that called and left a message with the results of my previous day blood draw, stating that it was urgent that I contact them right away. All of a sudden, my body was filled with this horrible paralyzying feeling, my fingers could hardly dial the return number, but I managed. The receptionist answered, I identified myself (everyone in the office know who I am), and she said, "oh yea, Yolanda, you tested positive for H....H....H, at this pont I felt I was going to fall out of my chair and just kill over. Then she said, you tested positive for H-Pylori, and I said "H WHAT?" She said H-Pylori, and I said, what in the *x^#%^ is a H-Pylori? She said it's a stomach virus which is treated with PREV-PAC, she also mentioned it can cause stomach ulcers. I couldn't believe it, I felt fine, I wouldn't have never guessed I had a stomach virus. So they called my prescription in that very moment and I'm just in from picking it up from the pharmacy. It's a 14 day supply of antibiotics.
I rushed home to read up on H-Pylori on the internet for a clearer explanation and understanding of the virus, the cause is bacteria or fecal in water and/or food. Then my fiancee reminded me that we had just received a notice from the City of Oceanside weeks earlier about how they found bacteria in the City Water Supply and for every to take notice, but not to be cautious as the water did not need to be boiled. They did say that individuals who have an immune system disorder may be cautious, and at that moment I wondered since I do have an autoimmune disorder. None-the-less, I start the antibiotic therapy tomorrow morning.
Question: Is my process on hold until this virus is cleared?

I know that must of scared the wits out of you. I am going to school to be a medical assistant and get scared when I draw blood, because one wrong poke and well you know. anyway H-Pylori is much better to have than HIV and H-Pylori is common. They trest prior so they can treat it properly and try to prevent stomache ulcers. I have never heard of anyone being put on hold for it.

I have no idea. I just know they test you so they can try to prevent stomache ulcers. Our pouches are so small we don't want or need ulcers. It could cause you to undo the surgery if left untreated.

My doctor will not do surgery unless/until you are through taking the antibiotics for H-Pylori.
Roser13 - they may be expensive but isn't your health worth it?

Thank God
Well thank God it was a different "H". Well I am glad it was only anitbiotics that were needed in your case. I think we all go through that fear when we have labs drawn that something bad is going to come back. I just had my well woman exam and the last time I had one some cancer cells were found so I kinda get freaked out when it is pap smear time. God Bless you and welcome to the Family .

Hey
have you notified the water deaprtment yet? i would make them pay for any out of pocket expenses you may have incurred. Also, I would tell your neighbors and have them go get checked. This could turn out to be more than just a coincidence. The government and their politics. Sending you a letter advising of you of contamination-but no need to boil water..... remember when they government told us the white powdery anthrax substance couldnt kill people either...and then people started dropping like flies...... here I am on my political soap box, but I think this warrants further investigation... god luck lil lday!

h pylori
h pylori has to be treated. you can get severally and seriously ill if you don't treat it. i do know you can get it from contaminated water. i would definitely notify the city and let them know.

Hey Everyone.....
Thanks for your responses and concern. I started my antibiotics today and won't stop until I've taken the entire 14 day supply. I want to make sure I've rid myself of this virus and I'll go in after the therapy and retest to assure there's no longer a trace.
Bridget, I was thinking the same way you are, regarding contacting the City Government Water Dept. and complain, but my fiancee' made a point. He said, there's no way I can prove that I contracted the virus from drinking their contaminated water, but still, I think they should be informed. Therefore, I will call them tomorrow or e-mail them tonight.
That's why I drink bottled water, to avoid drinking the City's contaminated water supply, but then again, I guess it kind of irrelevant if I make my Crystal Light drinks using the City's water.
