Default ? re job search vs surgery date

I just completed my externship AND just got my surgery date (5-5-08). So, since I didnt know the date weeks ago, I have alot of resumes out there and may get the perfect job any day. So, do I wait until after the surgery to move forward or take the job as long as I get the time off for surgery. And if I do that, how long do I really need before returning to work?

Leanna,
Keep your date! Most of us were back to work in 2 weeks. Sometimes it takes longer if you have a very physical job, otherwise, it was just a matter of fatigue. If your dream job comes through, let them know you have a prior commitment and will not be available till May 19th. A career will last a lifetime...and if you take care of yourself first, that lifetime will be all the more fulfilling! Good luck to you.

Absolutely keep your date. Jobs are always out there waiting for you. Don't sell yourself short by taking a job over your health. A job is replacable, your health is not.
