Default Reality hit today!

I decided I need to put some winter clothes away. I folded and stacked things on the bed after pulling them from the overflowing closet. I was working away when I turned around and reality hit me. I knew I had a lot of clothes (all different sizes). I never actually saw the emormity of the problem I have. There are clothes everywhere. In storage boxes, stacked on chairs, in vacuum bags etc. My obsession with clothes is just as bad as my eating. I came downstairs and said to my husband, "I know you already know this but I finally realized my problem with clothing and shoes. I was putting winter things away and turned around and finally saw it. I put my head on the bed and asked God to help me." He said he knew it but didn't say anything because he didn't want to hurt me.

Being obese is like being addicted to drugs and alcohol in a way. I am finally coming clean with the person who is willing to support me more than anyone.

Do you think this is part of losing the layers of this disease????

Default Brand new member, truly understand

Wow, your post really hit home with me! I know food has always been my drug of choice....other people drink, gamble, do weed, etc., but I eat. It is legal and acceptable. It's just that we take it to such self-destructive levels.

I do not have a surgery date yet, although I've made it through the eval and blood tests, etc. I pray everything goes well for you, and hope we both find support and answers and understanding on these boards. We'll make it!

Food has definitely been addictive in my life, because it's been tied up with "love" since the days I gained approval from Mom who loved to stuff us and watch us clean our plates. But Mom's gone now--and I can never again blame her for what I put into my mouth or the choices I make. I am glad you are thinking about stuff like this. Good topics when you meet your psych folk....Keep up the good work.

I had my psych evaluation yesterday. He asked a lot of questions and at the end said, "Good luck with your surgery." I was thrilled. Another hurdle jumped!!!!
