Default weight gain before surgery

Did any of you gain weight before surgery? I don't have a scale and I am afraid of gaining before. My clothes feel tight, but what is new. I was just wondering if anyone got cancelled due to any weight gain.

Default weight gain before surgery

dale,
about six months before my surgery, knowing i was going to be looking into surgery and going through with it i thought what the hell. i basically ate what i wanted to eat because i was sick of the yo-yo dieting. i probably gained about 10 pounds in that 6 month period. my bmi, though, was on the low side. it was 41. i think gaining weight depends on what your bmi is and how much. i don't think it's a good idea to do it and can jeporadize the surgery. like i say, i was just tired of yo yo dieting and always being hungry and i just ate what i wanted to knowing that i was going to be having surgery and wouldn't have to worry about any more diets.

Smile I did it too

I had ended up gainig 10 pounds as well.. not on purpose either. Im sure it didnt help I weighed in sometime around October, went through the holidays and then was called to schedule in January. I didnt mean to, but It happened. Kelly wasnt pleased but my surgery wasnt rescheduled.

There are some folks out there that are told to lose a a specific amount of weight prior to surgery or the surgery wont happen. As it gets told over and over again.... it just depends. Everyone's case is different.

I stopped yo-yo dieting and have been eating normally instead of skipping meals, so my body is trying to keep whatever I eat. I wont't worry so much and stress about it.
Thanks for the advice.

Default They say...

They say not to gain weight, but I don't think they would reschedule your surgery unless you gain a HUGE amount of weight and you are already at an extreamly high risk. I know that I started out at my consult I weighed in at 314 and by my pre-op I had gone up to 319. I actually gained a large amount of weight (water weight I suppose from being on the IV's) while in the hospital. I was up to 327 the day after surgery and down to 320 the day I was discharged. Talk about a Yo-Yo...LOL Just try to not do like I did and eat everything in the house prior to the surgery! I was all over the ice cream...LOL
Relax and just go with the flow! You'll be fine!

I had gained 6 lbs between pre-op appointment and surgery. Not a word was mentioned. A few pounds it seems is understandable. Once you start getting in the tens of pounds, then I'm sure it could be a problem.

I had to say good bye to all my favorite foods; cheesecake, hot fudge sundae, a big, thick slab of beef, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, etc.

Funny thing is, I don't crave or desire those things anymore, well, except I would like to try a small bite of a fresh Krispy Kreme one day down the road
