Default Eat what you want...just control the blood sugars!!

Momof3~

I was more concerned with the elevated sugars than your food intake. If you can keep your sugar levels under control...heck, eat what you want. I just don't want you to NOT take your meds, eat things that will increase your sugars, and possibly cause worse issues in the long run.

That said...I'm really glad you're taking your meds, even though I know first hand how awful Metformin can be!! I had my doctor change my medication years ago due to the Metformin causing DUMPING SYNDROME...not fun!!

Good luck with your surgery...and take care, okay?

Cathy

I missed out on any "last supper" opportunities. I went in to see my surgeon when I thought I had six weeks until my surgery and he not only moved my surgery up but he insists I lose 20 pounds prior to the date. He even had the nerve to say, "I hope whatever you had for lunch was something you really wanted since it was your last free meal". So...every night after I mentally list all the reasons I need this life change I imagine eating one of my favorite meals for the last time. I guess I'm glad I didn't have the last minute rush to eat everything but I sort of feel cheated. Oh well....

Prior to starting my 2 week pre-op diet I indulged in Pizza Hut pizza, onion rings from Cheeburger, Cheeburger, fixed sausage and cabbage one night, and had a big steak. I was so stuffed the liver shrinking diet was a nice change.

There is a group I used to lurk in that would call Metformin "Metfartmin"...SO true.

I wasn't able to tolerate the med, as I work too far away from the ladies room in my office and couldn't depend on getting there in time.
