They make a small stab incision in the umbilicus (belly button).

I don't believe so...my belly button wasn't touched...but I had holes nearby...

Sheesh, you'd think I'd be 100% sure since I HAD surgery already!!

I think I would rather have a cut near my belly button, rather than in it.

I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy. The surgeon made a small stab incision inside my umbilicus. It wasn't straight in but was still within the belly button. I have no scars at all. It's been 7 years and
I still have no outward evidence of having surgery.

guess it depends on the surgeon - a friend (same surgeon) had 5 incisions all less than 2 inches around the abdomen - if your tummy was the face of a clock I think there is one at 3 o'clock, 11 and 1 o'clock and 6 o'clock.. none in the belly button area... (can't remember the 5th.. or IS there a 5th??? )
