Freaking out
Hi Guys! I just wanted to ask all of you to pray for me. I am a basket case, well I continue to say I am fine, but I am wired. Surgery is Tuesday........................
I am not worried about the wls, the after, will I lose, will I put it back on, etc....
I am making myself sick. I must be more stressed then I realized, my boss asked if I was working on Monday and when I said yes, she told me not to come in.
So, I figured since most of you have gone through or are going through these emotions I would ask for your support.
Thanks for listening!

You came to the right place for support. Please know that we are here for each other. You can never ask a bad question, the only bad one is the one that wasn't asked.

Tami,
First off, big hugs to you. What you are feeling is absolutely normal. I would be worried if you weren't feeling all these emotions! You will do great, soon you will be on the losers side too! Take several deep breaths and you will be fine. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hang on tight, it's a wild ride!

Freaked!
HI, Tami
Welcome. I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. The week ahead I was useless to anyone. I was so freaking out, trying to get everything ready, finishing up things at work, etc. You need to remember to breathe..........Slowly, in thru your nose, out thru your mouth....... Everything will be fine. Good luck with everything.

You're not freaking out...
You're acting very normal for anyone in your spot. You are about to undergo a life saving/life changing surgery. Who wouldn't be a little or a lot freaked out? I kept it bottled up the entire time and the anesthesiologist had to knock me out in the pre-op holding area because I was freaking so much. It's going to be just fine. Trust in God, your surgeon and yourself. Get up and start walking and sipping as quickly as possible and don't stop until you reach goal.. then keep exercising.. but seriously don't worry about your stress level right now.. know it is perfectly normal.. don't stress over being stressed.. LOL Did that make sense?

Tami,
I wish you well, and my prayers will be with you, and we will be waiting on the other side for you.
Christina is so right on with the walking and sipping immediately, to prevent DVT, or pulmonary embolism. And sipping every single second that you are awake, to prevent dehydration. Between walking and sipping you need rest! Look at your incision when you can, and even measure it for good times. I had what looks like in my picture, to be 14 inches long, (I had a huge belly) and it is now about 7 or 8 inches, I can't even guess, but it is a whole lot smaller now than it was the day after surgery when they removed the dressing.
You will be able to control your own pain level. Hit that button on the pump as soon as you feel uncomfortable, don't try to hang on. The longer you wait the longer it takes to bring the pain level down. Use it before you try to get up, and use your IV pump as your crutch. Hang on to the pole and push, one step at a time, and deep breathe. Before you know it you will be running circles around the nurses!
Hugs,
Traci

You guys are awesome!!!! Thank you. I am going to remember these things and I know they will help. My friends keep saying breathe, too.
I know I am going to be fine, just want it over with. Plus, I am not going home to my house and I am already bummed about that, but I will probably need a little help.
Christina, you totally made sense to me.
Thanks again! I just keep reminding myself (between breaths) to give it to God and He will take care of all of it.

Hey girlfriend. Stay in touch! Before long, it will pass and you'll look back and say, Hey, that wasn't so bad.

Guess What?
You are normal Tami! Everyone goes through their own stressing out right before surgery.
At first I was fine and then I would freak out about something very minor. Next thing I knew, I was fine again and reminded myself that what I was going to do was not only save my life, but allow my family to have more time with me! I had decided to get GBS to feel better inside and out. I have to tell you that the current results feel really, really good! I'm not even done with the weight loss either! Just remember that you are going to go through an emotional rollercoaster and then, Tuesday will be here and you will be fine. I will pray for you Tami, so that you can have peace in knowing what you have decided is the right thing. We are all thinking of you and are here for you.
Here's a big hug to help...
