Default NOw I'm panicking

Ummm........
So, I thought I was all cool and ok about this. When my surgery wasnt till June, I was ok. Now that it's next week, I'm considerably scared, and am having a panick attack. I'm sitting here, after talking to a dear friend ( lap bander) who did help me to calm down a bit....and am again flipping out and crying....even getting a bit numb.
The reality of what I'm about to do is starting to set in. Holy toledo, I'm scared.
it's even hard to type this, but it helps.

scott
flipping out

i'm gonna go hit the gym or something and get my mind off this, I just needed to speak out a bit, thats all

My suggestion:

Clean out your closets! Thats what I did! I tried to get organized, got rid of the clothes I wouldnt need anymore, wiped out the refrigerator, organized drawers. i wanted order when i came home from the hospital. thats what I did, good luck with your anxiety... I wouldnt call it anxiety, call it EXCITING!

Default Not alone!

Anxiety at this stage (I'm assuming) is natural. My date is next Wednesday and I am experiencing the same thing. So, you're not alone!

Think about it, you're taking a big step. You are changing your relationship with your BEST FRIEND forever. Something you felt you could count on to comfort you, and entertain you, etc... fo so long, will now only be in your life to nurish you. You are changing your relationship with food. It's a big change.

I wonder here and there if I can keep the weight off after surgery. I wonder if I will be one of the people who find themselves with unexpected complications. I wonder if I can really change my diet.

But here at TT, there are MANY inspiring stories of people who have had these same feelings we are having. They did not give up. They stood strong and went through surgery and are soaring through life higher than ever! I want to be there!

So, I will continue to address any serious concerns I have with my doc, and not sweat the small stuff. A year from now, I will be laughing at myself for letting these thoughts cross my mind. And I will hopefully be able to relate to someone else whose facing this big change in life, and give them the reassurance they need to take charge of their life!

I'm here! We're gonna get through it! Just try to stay calm, cool , and collected!!!

I did the exact same thing! I also painted my family room, living room and bedroom. I was like superwoman the two weeks before my surgery...and then when I was recouperating I got to look at this nice clean house! I would have HATED laying there knowing something needed to be cleaned in the house.

hey Scott, I see you wrote this in the AM, and I was wondering how you were doing now..

I remember the day before my surgery, I took it off from work and spent the whole day working on the house... I'd just moved in a few months before and I still have lots of boxes and stuff around.. it helped staying busy.

I really didn't have my real freak out until the minister came to pray with me at the same time the hospital staff came to start getting me ready to go into the OR. I think it's pretty normal though.

I Was Nervous Too! I Had The Chance To Have My Surgery In August But Waited Til November. Now I Wish I Would Have Done It In August. It's Best To Get It Over With And Start Reaping The Benefits Now. You Can Do This.
Good Luck On Your Journey!

Yep = I nested and nested and nested. Bills were pre paid, closets were organized...everything (including baseboards) were clean. That takes your mind off of stuff and before you know it you can relax in your clean house without worrying about stuff.
