Question PLEASE! Tell me this counts!

During my pregnancy, my doctor put me on a "no junk food, walk 3-5 times/week" diet and I lost about 40 lbs. If I get a letter from her, would this count as my diet? I can get copies of the paperwork for every appt I had with her and a letter that says she had me on a diet. Will that work? I've already started a new 6 month diet with my PCP but I'd really like to get around that! Please tell me this is enough!!!

The doctor never made note of a "diet" on my charts, but you can see the weight loss. Can she write a seperate note now, saying I was, in fact, on a diet?

It really depends on your insurance company. With mine that wouldn't have counted. Mine wants an actual medical weight loss program. All you can do is submit it and see what kind of response you get or check with your insurance company to see what they will accept. It most certainly doesn't hurt to check things out further.

I believe most will want to see something where the doctor saw you monthly and recorded your weight and often there is a certain time frame. I know with mine it had to be within the last 2 years.

It wouldnt have counted with my insurance company as the obesity history cannot include pregnancy weights. Good luck! Hope it counts for your insurance.
