Thank you all! I wasn't sure if I was just having an anxiety attack because surgery is getting so close. You guys are right, I don't need any additional stress right now. My B/P was 130/92 Monday, so I don't want that going up. Now I can just focus on losing 8 more pounds by Monday.

I am..he put me on an 800 cal/ 120 g protein liquid diet. So I have three Isopure protein drinks and one protein shake for the day. I drink the Isopure over the course of the day, but was still drinking at bedtime last night just to get it all in.

Anna, so glad you talked with the office and got all of that straightened out. I most certainly can see why you freaked. Glad you are now comfortable with the explainations. Just shows it is always a good idea to ask a lot of questions if explainations you are given didn't make sense.

I would only have a certified bariatric surgeon, but that's me. I had it done years ago. I had it open because my lap wasn't as well-known then and my surgeon was thoroughly convinced that the BEST RNY is done open. I don't know what he'd say NOW, but that was then.
I would not have surgery until ALL of your concerns are put to rest. ALL of them, okay?

I agree with them that I would get another surgeon that is a bariatric surgeon that will do the RNY because that is what you want and it is your body... I wouldn't take any chances with a doc that hasn't done open surgery before.. Sounds like risky busness to me... Call the emergency number if you have to to get things straitened out.. I would wait and get a new surgeon for sure.. I know it would be frustrating, but at least you can rest easy over the knife...

Smile Congrats on the understanding you have with your surgeon now..

Now that you have everything understood you can rest easy this weekend and still be very excited about your surgery... I have almost 2 months to wait for mine..

The doctor is NOT doing a band, he is doing the RNY! There will be one of his associates in there with him (whom I know from the same office), so if an open has to be done I know I'm in good hands. The open will only be done as a LAST resort. The doctor did not mean that he is going to do a band. Instead he was telling me the possible complication with the lap, and giving me that option should there be a problem with doing it. He is from India, so perhaps I didn't understand him clearly because of the strong accent.

Since I have spoken with several other patients from the office who have had the other physicians there, I feel comfortable knowing they will be assisting in my surgery. This would further explain why he has never had to do an open...his colleges do it for him!

Amity - Remember you said that Dr Bina does surgery on Monday, perhaps he'll be in with Kodali doing mine!
