Red face 9 week pre-op jitters

Wow time has flown! It feels like just the other day I made my life changing decision and now my surgery is just 9 weeks away!!
I'm still firing all cylinders ahead for my op, but am really getting nervous! Not so much for the operation itself but for my life afterwards. I mean, do I really want the hassle for the rest of my life having a "compromised" digestive system? I've already answered it myself with "yes. it's a small sacrifice for health and well being" so it's not really a question, but it still bugs me!

Part of my pre-op diet entails having to email my weight weekly to the nutritionist and surgeon. So - I go to the gym every Sunday to weigh on the same, accurate scale. Mom goes with me. She has now started getting anxious about my surgery and every week is telling me how I dont need the surgery anymore - I'm losing weight on my own! After a lifetime of being told to diet and lose weight she is now holding me back. Where has she been the last 20 years - OF COURSE I will lose weight, thats how diets work.... it's the long term bit we have issues with. I told her that I am doing my best to lose weight now, but unless I have the operation it will ALL come back and bring some excess weight along for the ride. She doesnt think I'm funny or being wise. It's difficult to do this without her support - she was in favour of it a few months ago.

The clock is ticking!!!

It is perfectly normal for you (and your mom) to be a little nervous. It sounds like you have thought this through really well and have made an educated decision. You are also right about being able to lose short-term and struggling long-term. That has been the story of my life.

Keep focusing on your pre-op diet because it sounds like you are doing well on it. Every pound you lose will make the surgery easier, and will be gone forever once you have the surgery.

Best wishes!

Lightbulb Thinking of you...

Annie, Sweetie just hang in there and remember the reasons why you want to do this (they are the right ones) and in a year's time you'll be glad and those around you will see the difference

Hi Annie,
Scott here. My doc just submitted me (FINALLY) to insurance. I hope to hear back in a week or two, then a date gets set. With any luck it'll happen in mid-april to early may. just wanted to say hi, and that I may be on a very similar countdown as you
