Unhappy pre-op diet struggles

My surgeon says that I'll probably be on optifast for a week or two before the surgery. I don't know much about this product. Those of you who have used it, what is it like? Is it filling? Does it taste reasonable? Did you still crave other foods, or any one in particular? I'm worried about having to be on this diet because I'm a food addict. I'm still trying to get a hold on my head hunger, and it's kicking my butt.

I know that coptergirl was on Optifast for a month before her surgery. You may want to pm her and ask her about it.

I didn't use Optifast but I was on a 2 week preop diet. There is another bariatric product out there that my surgeon used. It is primarily liquid but not totally so at least I could occasionally chew on something.

It isn't easy and yes you do get hungry but after the first few days I found that it did get better. I just kept telling myself that it was only 2 weeks, that I had worked hard to get my surgery approved and I wasn't going to blow it now. I also had the motivation that if I didn't lose any weight during that time my surgeon would be cancelling my surgery.

It's hard but if you want it bad enough you can do it!
