Gallbladder question
I've been having pain in my gallbladder area the last couple of days. Being the catastrophic person that I am, I'm imagining that I will need instant surgery to have it removed. If that does happen, how long would I have to wait for WLS afterward? Anybody know?
I have a call in to my PCP, but no response yet.

Your gallbladder
You will want to see your PCP to make sure it is your gallbladder, and if you have gallbladder disease of sorts and you can wait ????? they will remove that suker at the times of WLS. Why do you think its gallbladder pain? Are you on your knees, because the pain is so severe when the stones are trying to pass... its more than uncomfortable sister.... its downright PAINFUL.

Bridget,
Even though I have a low pain tolerance in some ways, I tend to ignore other types of pain too long. That's why I ended up having to have emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. The tube was about to burst, and I knew I was in pain, but thought I could just work thru it. Hah.
As for this, I did get a call back from my PCP's office, and they tried to fit me in for an appointment tomorrow but no dice, so he said to go to Urgent Care tonight. I work with a nurse who had to have her gallbladder removed as an emergency last summer, and she said that what I was feeling and where I was feeling it was where the gallbladder is. Plus I had that type of pain before, and they had me go to the ER at Sharp Memorial, and after an ultrasound they said I didn't have actual stones, but did have "sludge" in it. That was a couple of years ago though.

Good
Sounds like you are on the right track, especially if there was sludge before. I dont know how long they make you wait from one surgical procedure to another... anesthesia is such a bear... wish i could be more helpful.
I have a large pain tolerance too, you wont believe some of things I have "trooped through". I know how that goes, including MY gallbladder pain 8 years ago..... I kept putting up with it thinking it would get better or calm down and just go away... oh lord, was I wrong. I had that bad boy removed. Good luck to you.

ER visit
I went to Urgent Care, but they were closing, and couldn't do an ultrasound. So they sent me to Sharp Memorial ER. I waited in the lobby for about 2 hours before they called me in. Then I waited at least another 2 hours before the doctor came in. They did do blood tests, and I guess they had to wait for the results. At midnight, the dr. came in and said that it looks like I have gallstones, but they couldn't do an ultrasound at that time of the night. He suggested I schedule an appointment with my PCP and get him to order the ultrasound. Aaaarrrrrggghhh!
I got tylenol with codeine pills, and they sent me home. They also prescribed a low fat diet, which makes sense. The ER dr. also enthusiastically encouraged me to have WLS. Thanks, I think.
