Yet another disappointment.....
This one is a little self-inflicted though. I have been SUPER busy going to all of my appointments and knocking out these things that my insurance company requires. Well, yesterday I met with my Dietician for the 4th month of the medically supervised diet. For some reason, I thought that I would be done with my diet at the end of March. My 6 month mark isn't until the very end of April. BLECH!!!

They come and the moment passes
Stay focused Christina, these disapointments happen and have been doing the steps you need to get to your goal. I know that along the path I have been on, I made mistakes too, dont get down and in a couple days you'll accept the April date if you haven't already. Best to you.

Oh, hon - I know its frustrating!! I know that a month seems like forever when you are waiting, but trust me - the time will fly. The timing for your surgery will be the perfect timing for YOU. Hang in there, love!

Christina, the good thing about the 6 month diet is that you will get into the mode, get into the thinking of small portions, be better prepared in your head (the surgery will take care of the physical part - at least for the first six months). Your head is the most important part, and how you will perceive food and your new way of eating. It's a good thing. Embrace it, hold onto it, things happen for a reason!

Thanks for the responses! I appreciate them more than you know! I think I was having a down day anyway. I feel great about it. It just affords me more time to get used to the idea of a new me!

Christina, YOU'VE GOT IT! That's exactly the point. I understand that my surgeon now requires 4 months of "diet" (I hate to use that word) prior to surgery, regardless of whether insurance requires it or not. I think he has found, in his practice, that those who REALLY want to make a total lifestyle change regarding food are MOST successful when they start measuring and thinking (before eating) way before surgery. And now that I am 10+ months out, I can tell you that it is an excellent decision.
The day after my first wls seminar, I totally flipped into a "eating right and healthy" zone, and lost 17 lbs prior to my surgery, which was 5.5 weeks later. It gave me a total frame of reference PRIOR to surgery. And I think it would have been even better if that period had been longer (although I was as eager as you and anyone else to get on the other side of it).
I'm so glad you are past the angst! Embrace it all, and go with it!
HUGS,
